Cher—Queen of the Naked Dress—Revives Her 1974 Look at the 2026 Met Gala
Would it even be the 2026 Met Gala with out an iconic diva sighting? Tonight, legendary singer Cher arrived at the event in grand stylemarking her first time attending the Met in over a decade.
Her daring look was effectively price the 10-year wait: Cher returned to the Met steps sporting a customized look by Burberry’s Daniel Lee. Created in shut collaboration together with her (equally legendary) stylist Patti Wilson, they created a black silk-tulle twisted costume, full with a leather-based corset and a cropped leather-based jacket with crystal gildings. (Item es Cher, in spite of everything.)
Thinking that the design seems somewhat acquainted? That’s as a result of Cher referenced herself. Her Burberry design this night referenced an iconic Met costume that she wore again in 1974, designed by her shut buddy and frequent collaborator Bob Mackie. (It’s now one of her most well-known clothes.)
A longtime champion of the bare costume, it solely made sense that Cher would personal the look tonight—given the new spring exhibition from the Met, “Costume Art,” explores the intersection of vogue and the human physique.
