Neon Debuts Teaser For Na Hong-Jin’s Cannes Pic Hope; Fall Debut Sets

On the heels of his in Competition debut at Cannesthe place it received a seven-minute standing ovation, Neon you could have launched the official teaser for Na Hong-jin‘s buzzy sci-fi title, Hopewhich can bow in theaters this fall.

The simply over minute-and-a-half first look previews a desolate, bloodied and disordered road, lined with wrecked automobiles and deserted buildings. As the eerie, synth-forward and siren-infused rating picks up, viewers get a glimpse on the aliens terrorizing a South Korean city.

Per the official synopsis: “In Hope Harbor, a remote village near the Demilitarized Zone, police chief Bum-seok receives alarming news from local youths that a tiger has appeared. As the village erupts into panic, Bum-seok is forced to confront a reality beyond belief.”

The starry solid consists of Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Hoyeon, Alicia Vikander, Michael Fassbender, Taylor Russell and Cameron Britton.

Early opinions for the movie reward it as an action-packed blockbuster that, as Deadline’s Pete Hammond put it“never lets up for a minute of its two-hour, 40-minute running time and out-Hollywoods anything of its kind made by Hollywood.”

This is Na’s fourth journey to the French Riviera fest, following his three earlier movies: The Wailingwhich screened Out of Competition in 2016; the crime-thriller The Yellow Seawhich screened within the Un Certain Regard part in 2011; and his thriller The Chaseradditionally Out of Competition in 2008.

Neon acquired the North American and English-language rights to Hope in April, after reportedly aggressively pursuing the challenge since an early footage presentation in November. Later on, it was introduced that Mubi picked up the rights for Latin America, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Turkey forward of the movie’s Cannes debut.
