Severe weather knocks out power to thousands in Central IL | Local News


DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – Thousands of consumers throughout Central Illinois misplaced power Monday morning as robust and extreme storms raced throughout the state.

At its peak, round 7,500 clients have been with out power throughout a number of counties. Sangamon, Moultrie, and Champaign counties reported the most important outages.

As of two:15 pm power had been restored to most. In Sangamon County, fewer than 500 have been with out electrical energy. In Champaign County, the outages have been lower than 20.

Statewide, round 28,000 clients have been with out power.

A line of robust and extreme storms moved by way of the world Monday morning, at occasions with wind gusts over 50 miles per hour, hail, and heavy rain.

Severe weather was forecast for Monday, together with hail, robust winds and tornadoes.
