Village of Shiocton evacuated for flooding


SHIOCTON (WLUK) — The village of Shiocton is being evacuated because the waters of the Wolf River continue to rise.

The village president’s decree instructs all folks within the village limits to evacuate by 3 pm

The Red Cross has arrange an emergency shelter on the Black Creek Community Center, 507 S. Maple St.

“If you do not evacuate we will likely not be able to assist you,” the order says.

The village warns that the flooding is predicted to worsen within the subsequent few days.

According to the National Water Prediction Servicethe Wolf River stage was 14.02 ft at 7:30 am Wednesday. The river is predicted to rise to a crest of 15.1 ft on Friday morning. The report crest is 14.1 ft on April 1, 1992.

The National Weather Service says at 14.00 ft, water is a few foot under the underside of the Highway 54 bridge. Flood waters start spreading over components of the village close to the river, together with River and Mills streets.

The village board is asking guests to not journey to the world to take a look at the flooding situations. Highway 76 is closed from Highway 54 to the south finish of the village.
