Phillies extending Jesús Luzardo: NL East contenders agree to five-year, 5 million contract with top lefty

One of the top pitchers of subsequent offseason’s free-agent class is off the market. The Philadelphia Phillies and left-hander Jesus Luzardo have agreed to a five-year contract price $135 million, CBS Sports HQ’s Jim Bowden has confirmed. The deal covers 2027-31. The workforce has not but introduced the transfer.

Luzardo, 28, joined the Phillies in a four-player commerce with the Miami Marlins final offseason and had a terrific first season in Philadelphia. He set new profession highs in innings (183 ⅔ innings) and strikeouts (216 strikeouts), and completed seventh within the National League Cy Young voting. Luzardo additionally had a 2.35 ERA in two postseason appearances.
