Moscow, 1977. Two ‘PONIES’ (‘individuals of no curiosity’ in intelligence communicate) work anonymously as secretaries within the (*22*) Embassy. That is till their husbands are killed below mysterious circumstances within the USSR, and the pair change into CIA operatives.

Bea (Emilia Clarke) is an over-educated, Russian-speaking little one of Soviet immigrants. Her cohort, Twila (Haley Lu Richardson), is a small-town woman who’s as abrasive as she is fearless.
