Legend Shaquille O'Neal Gives Thoughts On LeBron James Joining Sixers

The Philadelphia 76ers landing LeBron James is bringing everyone out to give their thoughts and opinions on the future Hall of Famer headed to the City of Brotherly Love. James will be teaming up with Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxeyand VJ Edgecombe to form one of the best–if not the best–lineups in the history of the NBA.

James averaged 20.9 points while shooting a mind-boggling 51.5% from the floor in year 23 in the NBA. There are players in their prime who can’t do what James is doing at the age of 41. It’s insane what the future Hall of Famer can still do as he prepares for his 24th season in the league. There’s a reason why this is the most significant move in Sixers history.

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, who played with James for one season in 2009-10 with the Cleveland Cavaliershopped on 97.5 The Fanatic and gave his thoughts on James joining the Sixers:

I mean, you guys do have the ingredients. You can’t go wrong with a Maxey, a Jaylen Brown, and Embiid, and LeBron. However! It’s championship or bust. I hate to say it.
Golden State would have been fun. Cleveland would have been, in my opinion, the Karate Kid thing to do. Miami would have also been fun with him and Giannisbut I was thinking either Golden State or Miami, or maybe Cleveland. Starting off in Cleveland, left, went to Miami, won a championship, you know what? I’m gonna go back to Cleveland, win the championship. Hey, I’m gonna leave again and then end his career in Cleveland. So, I really thought it was gonna be Cleveland, but hey, Philadelphia. Again, championship or bust. I don’t want to hear about you know ‘Oh, we won 50 games this year.’ No, no, no. You got to win a championship this year or next year.

To O’Neal’s point, the Sixers will have championship expectations for the next two seasons with James as a member of this team. As long as James, Brown, Embiid, and Maxey are on the floor together, the Sixers will be extremely tough to stop once they nail down chemistry and such. Philadelphia will have work to do, but winning a championship should be at the forefront in the coming season.
