Delta introduced the suspension of routes from Seattle International Airport to Mexican locations reminiscent of Cancun, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta. This was due to the rise within the value of fuel due to the battle in Iran, as justified by the airline.

The airline indicated that beginning this summer time it can start to droop a number of flights to key locations in Mexico and justified the minimize due to “the volatility in global jet fuel prices.”, which went from round $2.50 per gallon in February to $4.19 in April 2026.”

Delta has solely detailed that from Seattle to Cancun flights on this route won’t be accessible from June 2 to November 8. Likewise, the connection from Seattle to Puerto Vallarta can be suspended from October 6 to November 8.

Passengers should now go for routes from Salt Lake City, Atlanta, Los Angeles or Mexico City with Aeroméxico.

As reported REPORTUR.mx, Andrés Conesa, common director of Aeroméxico, identified in December 2025 that there aren’t any arguments for the alliance between Aeroméxico and Delta to finish, as he considers that it is a matter of Claudia Sheinbaum’s authorities for failing to adjust to the bilateral air settlement that comes from the federal government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) when it determined to switch cargo flights to Felipe Ángeles Airport (AIFA). (Aeroméxico blames Sheinbaum for asking the US to end the alliance with Delta).

“The arguments of the DOT (USA Department of Transportation) do not have to do with our or Delta’s issues, but rather they allege that the Mexican Government fails to comply with the bilateral air agreement between Mexico and the United States, and that is the debate they have between the two governments, it is neither our nor Delta’s issue. With this suspension we can continue operating the alliance as we have it,” he indicated on the time.
