The Celtics are enjoying the 76ers on Sunday, March 1, and so they thought that’d be the day that Jayson Tatum returned from his lengthy injury absence attributable to his torn Achilles.
That will not be the case, although.
Tatum stays listed as out by the Celtics for Sunday.
Tatum has but to play this season after tearing his Achilles in final season’s playoffs.
In Tatum’s absence, a lot of Celtics have embraced bigger roles, led by Jaylen Brown, who has earned some MVP help for his play with out Tatum.
The impending return of Tatum, assuming it comes in some unspecified time in the future, is a big improvement for the Celtics.

They’ve positioned themselves nicely within the standings even with out Tatum. Getting him again now could be a bit like a supercharged commerce deadline addition.
Clearly, the Celtics will nonetheless take it simple with Tatum at first. They will not need to overdo it as he comes again from a severe injury.
Eventually, although, the hope will probably be that Tatum is again to his common self. And if the Celtics can add a full-strength Tatum to their playoff rotation this season, nobody will need to play them.
