Portland police make arrest in stabbing on Congress Street

Portland police arrested a lady following a stabbing that occurred close to Longfellow Square on Saturday night time.

At about 5:25 pm on April 18, police responded to a report of a person coated in blood on Congress Street. Officers discovered a 45-year-old man who reported he had been stabbed, and he was transported to Maine Medical Center with non-life threatening accidents.

Following an investigation, police arrested a 44-year-old girl, who they mentioned is homeless, and charged her with home violence aggravated assault. She was delivered to Cumberland County Jail.

This is the second latest stabbing close to Longfellow Square. In November, Portland police mentioned they arrested a person after he stabbed one other man in the face in an “unprovoked” attack.
