Naomi Watts Wears Dior at the 2026 Met Gala


Naomi Watts is one thing of a low-key Met Gala common. “The Oscars red carpet favors Old Hollywood,” Watts instructed T&C in her 2014 cover interview. “The Met ball is supposed to be about taking chances.” After a number of years away, the Ryan Murphy-series common returned to the carpeted steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, wearing a strapless, floor-length Dior robe with a floral appliqué and matching flowers in her hair, topped off by Briony Raymond earrings.

The 2026 Met Gala’s theme is “Costume Art“but the current dress code you’ve been a little less specific this year. Described as “Fashion is Art,” visitors were encouraged “to express their own relationship to fashion as an embodied artform.” The accompanying exhibition, opening this week at the New York museum, explores the relationship between clothes and the human physique throughout Western artwork from prehistoric instances to the current.

Watts is continually busy, having starred in a number of tv collection in the previous few years, together with Feud: Capote vs. the swans, The Watcher, All’s Fairand most not too long ago, love storyduring which she plays former First Lady Jackie Kennedy in the ultimate years of her life.

“As I read and dug into her during the research process, I learned a lot more about her,” Watts instructed author Evan Ross Katz on the show’s accompanying podcast. “Not having grown up in America and been obsessive about the Kennedys in the similar manner Americans would have been—though figuring out sufficient about them, figuring out they wore stunning garments and that there was this horrible tragedy—how she dealt with herself by way of the grief and introduced a nation collectively was extraordinary. Her coping expertise, but in addition this little humorousness that I knew nothing about. She had rather a lot to do with him turning into the man he was. Those types of issues gave me a greater understanding and curiosity about play her.”
