Ohio State president Ted Carter resigns after ‘inappropriate relationship,’ university says
Walter “Ted” Carter Jr. was chosen as Ohio State’s president in 2023.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State President Walter “Ted” Carter Jr. has resigned from his place.
The university introduced on Monday that the Board of Trustees accepted his resignation.

According to a launch, Carter instructed trustees that he had an inappropriate relationship with somebody in search of public sources to help his private enterprise.
Ohio State stated leaders will share extra details about the transition within the coming days.
Carter was chosen as Ohio State’s seventeenth president in 2023, succeeding Kristina Johnson, who resigned in November 2022. He started his place on Jan. 1, 2024.
Before coming to Ohio State, Carter served as president of the University of Nebraska System, the place he oversaw 4 campuses of practically 70,000 college students, college and workers.

“For private causes, I’ve made the troublesome determination to resign from my position as president of The Ohio State University. I disclosed to the board of trustees that I made a mistake in permitting inappropriate entry to Ohio State management.
“I consider we have now made quite a lot of progress throughout my time at Ohio State, and I’m sorry I’m not in a position to stay your president longer. The college students, college and workers at this university are among the many absolute best on this planet, and the Education for Citizenship 2035 strategic plan has Ohio State poised to succeed for years to come back.
“I’ve loved a robust working relationship with the board of trustees, and I’m grateful for his or her help and steering.
“Lynda and I leave Ohio State with gratitude and appreciation for this wonderful community. It has been an honor to serve as this university’s 17th president, and we wish the university ongoing success.”
