‘I’ve never seen anything like this’ General store gathered support for Searsmont fire suppression efforts

SEARSMONT, Maine (WABI) – While over 20 fire departments assisted within the fire suppression efforts at Robbins Lumber the group was coming collectively to support them.

Fraternity Village General Store turned a relay level for the group to move alongside support because the hours lengthy fire suppression effort continued.

Community members introduced in water and meals for the fire fighters, with the final store baking round 30 pizzas for the fire fighters from donated substances.

Just people started bringing water over, like seriously, it starts with one person and word of mouth and knowing it was a store, and we had people from Bangor, like ‘hey we’re gonna bring up some water’ and it just continued and continued.“

As well as supplies the store began raising money for the affected families and will be working with a member of the Robbins family to make sure that money gets to those who need it.
