Dakota Johnson Is California Cool in Calvin Klein Underwear and Denim Campaign
Nothing comes between Dakota Johnson and her Calvins…besides extra Calvin Klein. The actress stars in the model’s new denim and underwear marketing campaign. Photographed by Gordon von Steiner in a home in Topanga, California, the images seize Johnson lounging round the home in numerous states of undress. “It was very chill,” she remembers on a current cellphone name. “There was a lot of great music playing, a lot of jokes, a lot of me walking around naked essentially, and a lot of people avoiding eye contact with me.”
In the shoot, she certainly wears two completely different pairs of denims—and solely the denims—that are a mirrored image of her personal private denim model. “I love a baggy jean because it just makes an outfit, and these are the perfect baggy, schleppy jean to wear with a chic top—what I do is I fold the waistband over so I don’t wear a belt and it makes the fit,” Dakota explains. “But if I feel like, wow, I’m slamming today, I’ll wear a high-waisted, tighter jean. It depends on the time of the month really, which I think most women can relate to.”
Although she is a denim aficionado, Dakota doesn’t abide by the “never wash your jeans, and instead put them in the freezer” edict that so many obsessives swear by. “No, that’s disgusting. That’s absolutely disgusting,” she instantly countered when requested, laughing. “Also, do you have a deep freezer in your house? No. Only deep freezers kill bacteria. I’m a really clean girl and I’m going to throw those puppies in the wash every day, every damn day.” And earlier than you ask, she’s throwing the denims in the dryer too; in any case, stretching them after washing them is half the enjoyable.
She’s equally interested in opposites in relation to underwear. “The Calvin underwear that I’m really into at the moment is the boy shorts, because I sleep in them and then I can bop around the house in the morning and do things,” she reveals. “When I get home, I take off my pants—especially if it’s a hot day—so I’m in my underwear in my house all the time, that’s just who I am.”
But in fact, her different persona is all about—to cite Ned Flanders—to really feel like she’s carrying nothing in any respect. “I wear basically dental floss underwear. I’m that person,” Dakota provides. “Which Calvin does also make… You feel like there’s nothing there, and that’s wonderful for me.” She thinks for a second. “Honestly, this is the best gig I’ve ever had. They really check all my boxes.” Now she’s laughing. “In this world, I’m just trying to get my underwear boxes checked.”
