On May 7, Colon responded to the Mets’ authentic publish with a tantalizing thought: “I might have more in the tank.”
The replies to Colon’s thought revealed a Mets fan base deeply in want of enjoyable amid the staff’s 14-22 begin.

Nor would Colon be the oldest participant to try a comeback after a protracted layoff. Rafael Palmeiro was 53 when he performed for the unbiased Cleburne Railroaders in 2018, and hit .301 in 31 video games. A 53-year-old knuckleballer named Vincent Towns was the first player chosen within the Atlantic League draft in April.
Colon will not hit one other residence run for the Mets. But the response to his newest suggestion landed more durable due to the staff’s struggles.

The Mets rank 14th within the 15-team National League in runs per recreation (3.67). Their pitchers are permitting a mediocre 4.33 runs per recreation. Those figures look even worse contemplating the Mets boasted baseball’s highest opening day payroll at $357.6 million.

For all of the discuss across the Mets presumably firing supervisor Carlos Mendoza (who they haven’t), or the accidents to Francisco Lindor, Luis Robert Jr., Jorge Polanco, Kodai Senga and others, the Mets want to change the story of their season.
Kudos to Colon for providing a second of levity.
