Blair Underwood is ‘finishing my dad’s dream’ living in Utah and raising bison
Blair Underwood has been having fun with a extra rustic life in Utah, removed from the Hollywood crowds.

“It’s not a ranch, but it’s [a] nice handful of acres up in the mountains,” he informed PauseRewind’s Elizabeth Stanton.
The actor is particularly excited to be raising bison on his land, even he prefers the non-technical time period, buffalo.
“I like saying buffalo, but technically they’re bison. And people try to correct me and I say I know, but I like the word buffalo. My mom was from Buffalo, New York, not ‘bison’ New York. You got the Buffalo Bills, not the ‘bison’ bills. They’re the Buffalo Soldiers that Bob Marley sang about, not the bison soldiers, so I like the word buffalo.”
Underwood partnered along with his neighbors, who had been raising bison for the previous few years, and admitted he was so excited when he noticed them, he mentioned to his spouse, “Babe, they got buffalo here!”
The pleasure comes from fulfilling a long-standing household want of proudly owning a ranch, one thing Underwood covers in her new ebook, “A Soldier’s Wife: My Mother, the Marvelous Mrs. Marilyn A. Underwood.”
The ebook is a memoir dedicated to his late mom’s notes, feedback, and different materials to ship on each reminiscences of her life and dispel timeless knowledge from a girl who led an unbelievable life, even in the face of MS.
Among the reminiscences shared in the memoir is when the household thought-about shopping for a ranch in Colorado Springs.

“As an adult, I think a lot of this book is finishing my mom’s dream. Having the buffalo is kind of finishing my dad’s dream, though I incorporated that dream myself. And I do love bison, buffalo myself,” Underwood mentioned.
The “Doc” star has been partnering along with his neighbors for the previous few years on raising the bison, slowly rising their herd and splitting the prices.
According to Underwood, the spouse of the couple mentioned, “Absolutely, I’ve never met anyone who loves buffalo the way I do.”
Underwood and the couple do course of, or as he calls it “transition” the bison for meat, however the actor comes from a spot of respecting the animal.
“I met a gentleman, his name is literally Buffalo Boys, [he’s] Native American. And, you know, the regard and the respect and the reverence they have for the bison is critical. And I kind of come from that same space, that mindset,” he mentioned, including that Buffalo Boys provided to wish over the bison in Underwood’s care.
“It’s just a respect for them that, you know, they’re giving their body and their life and themselves for the sustenance of us as human beings. So I want to respect that,” he mentioned.
