Sony is closing the studio behind the Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus remakes
Sony is shutting down Bluepoint Games, the PlayStation studio behind well-received remakes of video games like Shadow of the Colossus and Demon’s Soulsin line with Bloomberg. The change was made “following a recent business review,” a spokesperson advised the publication. About 70 staffers will likely be reduce, and the studio will shut down in March.
“Bluepoint Games is an incredibly talented team and their technical expertise has delivered exceptional experiences for the PlayStation community,” a spokesperson advised Bloomberg. “We thank them for their passion, creativity and craftsmanship.” Sony did not instantly reply to a request for remark.
Sony acquired Bluepoint Games in 2021 following a string of profitable updates to many PlayStation franchises, together with remasters of the primary three uncharted titles and of Gravity Rush. But after Sony’s purchase, the corporate seems to have set the studio on a unique course than the remakes and remasters that made it a powerhouse: it co-developed 2022’s God of War: Ragnarokthen spent years engaged on an unannounced reside service god of warfare recreation that Sony canceled in January.
