NJ school delayed openings due to dangerous cold for Monday (Feb. 9, 2026)


UPDATE: Sub-zero wind chills to start today, warmer temperatures in forecast this week

New Jersey school districts have called for delayed openings Monday due to dangerously cold temperatures with wind chills as low as minus 15 degrees expected overnight.

A cold weather advisory is in effect for the entire state until 10 am Monday.

Low overnight temperatures will be in the single digits for most of the state.

“Breezy northwest winds this evening will lessen some overnight tonight, but very cold wind chill values ​​will continue into Monday morning,” the National Weather Service said Sunday night.

Temperatures will warm into the upper 20s to around 30 degrees during the day on Monday, followed by near normal temperatures the rest of the week.

HUNTERDON COUNTY

MORRIS COUNTY
