Winter Weather Advisory: More accumulating snow on the way for Cincinnati
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 6TH, JUST A FEW DAYS AWAY, AND WE’RE GETTING OUR OWN WINTER OLYMPIC WEATHER HERE IN CINCINNATI. WE’RE ON THE EVE OF WHAT WILL BE ANOTHER ROUND OF SNOWFALL FOR US. IT DOES LOOK LIKE ANOTHER HIGH IMPACT SNOWFALL FOR THE TRI-STATE IN HERE. UNFORTUNATELY, YOU KNOW, WE’VE STILL GOT A LOT OF SNOW PILES STILL OUT THERE, OUT THERE ON THE ROADS. A LOT OF SNOW COVERED ROADS ANTICIPATED AROUND THE AREA. AND REGARDLESS OF THE SPECIFIC NUMBERS TO THE EXACT AMOUNT OF SNOW YOU SEE, WE’RE LIKELY TO HAVE A HIGH IMPACT FOR, YOU KNOW, AT LEAST YOUR EVENING COMMUTE, IF NOT PART OF THE MORNING COMMUTE. SO STEADIEST SNOW, HEAVIEST SNOW, BASICALLY MID MORNING INTO THE EARLY AFTERNOON, LIKELY TO RESULT IN SNOW COVERED ROADS OUT THERE. FOR A LOT OF FOLKS, MOST OF US WILL WIND UP IN THAT 1 TO 3 INCH SNOWFALL RANGE. HOWEVER, THERE WILL BE KIND OF A CORRIDOR OF SLIGHTLY HEAVIER TOTALS WHERE SOMEONE COULD EXCEED THREE INCHES. PROBABLY GET UP THERE FOR MAYBE AS HIGH AS FIVE. BUT HERE’S KIND OF THE BREAKDOWN OF THE TIMELINE. IF YOU’RE ONE OF THOSE FOLKS WHO KIND OF LEAVES IN YOUR MORNING COMMUTE TOWARDS THE LATTER END OF THE COMMUTE, YOU’RE MORE LIKELY TO BE IMPACTED BY SNOW COMING IN THE EARLIER YOU’RE UP AND OUT. MAYBE NOT SNOWING YET IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD, BUT THE CONSENSUS IS THE SAME THAT BETWEEN MIDMORNING BY 910 THROUGH LUNCHTIME, PROBABLY UP TO 2 OR 3 SNOW WILL COME DOWN AT A PRETTY GOOD CLIP AND COME DOWN HEAVY ENOUGH TO RESULT IN SNOW COVERED ROADS FOR MOST OF US, BEFORE THE SNOW BEGINS TO TAPER OFF SOMEWHERE AFTER ABOUT 3 OR 4:00. SO HERE’S KIND OF THE OVERALL LOOK. AND TRYING TO PLACE THAT PRECISE CORRIDOR OF HEAVIEST SNOWFALL HAS BEEN A LITTLE DIFFICULT, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE IT WOULD MOST LIKELY OCCUR SOMEWHERE AROUND THE CINCINNATI METRO AND THEN EAST AND NORTH OF THE OHIO RIVER. SO AGAIN, I WANT TO EMPHASIZE, REGARDLESS OF WHERE YOU ARE IN THIS RANGE, WHETHER YOU GET THE TWO OR YOU END UP WITH THE FOUR, I THINK TRAVEL IS DIFFICULT TOMORROW GIVEN THE GROUND IS ALREADY SO COLD. AND BY SO COLD, I MEAN WE’VE BEEN BELOW ZERO AT TIMES EVEN THROUGH THE WEEKEND. SO THE GROUND IS QUITE RECEPTIVE OF ANY SNOW THAT WILL FLY. I’VE JUMPED AHEAD HERE ON FUTURECAST. HERE’S A LOOK AT 6 AM WATCH HOW QUICKLY THE SNOW EXPANDS. TAKE YOU TO EIGHT AND YOU CAN ALREADY SEE BY 8:00. IN SOME AREAS, THERE WILL LIKELY ALREADY BE ROADS BECOMING SNOW COVERED AND THE COMMUTE BECOMING DIFFICULT. THAT’S WHY I SAY THE LATER YOU START, THE MORE OF AN IMPACT YOU’LL HAVE DURING YOUR COMMUTE. TAKE YOU UP TOWARDS 10 AM LOOK HOW DARK SOME OF THESE BLUES ARE. SNOW WILL BE FLYING AT A GOOD CLIP FOR A GOOD NUMBER OF US. LOOK AT THIS. TAKE YOU INTO LUNCHTIME. HEAVY BANDS OF SNOW SETTING UP ACROSS THE AREA. TAKE YOU TOWARDS TWO. LOOK AT THAT. STILL SNOWING. AND THEN BETWEEN ABOUT THREE AND FOUR, THE SNOW GETS OUT OF HERE IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING, BUT THE DAMAGE IS ALREADY DONE. IN TERMS OF THE ROADS OUT THERE. IT IS QUIET TONIGHT. NOTHING EXCITING REALLY HAPPENING. IT’S JUST GOING TO BE ANOTHER COLD NIGHT OUTSIDE FOR US TEMPERATURES RIGHT NOW. YOU MAY NOT HAVE REALIZED IT BECAUSE WE’RE ALL TALKING ABOUT THE SNOW THAT’S COMING TOMORROW. THIS IS CURRENTLY THE WARMEST IT’S BEEN IN OVER A WEEK FOR US, ALBEIT WE’RE STILL BELOW FREEZING. BUT HEY, AT LEAST THE COLD IS NOT REMOVE AS ABSURD AS IT WAS LAST WEEK. SO RIGHT NOW WE’RE HOLDING AROUND 30 OFFICIALLY HERE IN CINCINNATI. TONIGHT’S GOING TO BE CHILLY. OBVIOUSLY IN THE 20S WILL GO AND THEN YOU CAN SEE THE IMPACT ICON STARTING TO POP UP AS WE GET CLOSE TO SUNRISE TOMORROW. SO CLOUDY, COLD, QUIET 24 FOR YOUR OVERNIGHT LOW. TOMORROW IS A WEATHER IMPACT DAY WITH SNOW HEAVY AT TIMES AND THEN ENDING DURING THE EVENING. WE’LL TOP OUT 2930. FOR YOUR AFTERNOON HIGH. HERE’S A LOOK AT YOUR PLANNER. YOU SEE THE IMPACT ICONS THROUGH THE DAY WITH SNOWING AT A GOOD CLIP MID MORNING THROUGH AT LEAST MID AFTERNOON. HERE’S A LOOK AT YOUR SEVEN DAY FORECAST. SO THIS SNOW MAKER HELPS TO REINFORCE THE COLD FOR A FEW DAYS THROUGH THE REST OF THE WEEK. HIGHS STILL STUCK BELOW FREEZING. A COUPLE OF NIGHTS. WE’RE GOING TO GET BACK TO THE MORE BRUTAL COLD. FOR EXAMPLE. COULD GET BACK DOWN INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS. I’M STILL OPTIMISTIC THAT FRIDAY OFFERS OUR BEST OPPORTUNITY TO BRIEFLY CREEP ABOVE FREEZING, AND BY THAT, I’M THINKING INTO THE MID 30S BEFORE ANOTHER BLAST OF ARCTIC AIR SKIRTS THROUGH THE AREA OVER THE WEEKEND PUSHES US BACK INTO THE DEEP FREEZE BEFORE MAYBE SOME MORE RECOVERY.
