Katie Boulter delivers instant reaction to reaching her first final in nearly two years

Katie Boulter is into the final of the Ostrava Open, having beaten Katie Volynets earlier today.

It was an inspired performance from the 29-year-old, who showed no signs of nerves as she blasted through her American opponent.

This marks yet another emphatic and impressive win for the Brit, who will now have his eyes fixed firmly on the trophy.

Speaking on court after the win, Katie Boulter was unsurprisingly delighted with her performance.

Having reached a career-high ranking of 23rd in November 2024, 2025 was tough for Boulter.

By the time the Australian Open came around last month, she had dropped down to 100th, and thus only gained entry into the main draw at the eleventh hour.

What is stopping Katie Boulter from staying in the WTA top 20?

“A fantastic player, was already in the top 20, and she has unfortunately – we have talked about it so many times on our podcast – unfortunately, she just has the yips.”

Boulter lost in the first round of the Australian Open, sent back to the drawing board in emphatic fashion by Belinda Bencic.

However, her joy and relief were evident after beating Volynets earlier today, and she began by stating: “I would have liked to have done it on the first match point, not the second, so no, I’m never satisfied, but obviously, really pleased with today.

“I feel like she really stepped off in the second, and I tried to match it as much as I could, and keep trusting myself, and just keep going for it no matter what, and it paid off in the end.”

Then asked about her staunch defense to avoid being broken as the second set went on, Boulter admitted her pride at the serve that let her down so often last year: “Yeah, I mean, I think that was huge.

“Um, I think, obviously, there were two breaks before that in the second set, and it could have easily shifted the momentum, and I just tried to make sure that I didn’t allow that to happen as much as I possibly could, and kept fighting, and I think I served well to get myself out of trouble there, and, yeah, I’m just very pleased with it.”

Katie Boulter is finally turning her form around

After a dreadful 2025 campaign to forget, it finally feels like Boulter has turned a corner. Were she to win the title this weekend, that would be the cherry on the cake.

Alas, regardless of the result of her upcoming final, the former British number one can feel confident that her game is more than capable of challenging those in and around her on tour.

Is Rybakina the best player on the WTA Tour right now?

If not, who is better?

Today, she blew Volynets off the court with her heavy ball striking off both wings.

And, as she said in her interview, the serve stood up when it was needed most.

Boulter is well on course towards reigniting his career, and a first title in nearly two years would certainly cement that notion.
