Team Idaho athletes are poised for a thrilling day at the Olympics in Italy, including an Olympic debut, a chance for a medal, and another could break records.

MILAN, Metropolitan City of Milan — A busy day for Team Idaho in Italy awaits. Three athletes are set to compete Friday at the Winter Games, including one making his Olympic debut, and another aiming for a medal and podium spot.

JOHN STEEL HAGENBUCH

The Ketchum native will make his Olympic debut early Friday morning in the men’s 10km interval start free.

Hagenbuch is a senior at Dartmouth College and already has two individual NCAA titles, as well as a junior World Championship title in the relay.

CHASE JOSEY

The Hailey native will compete in her third-straight Olympic halfpipe final on Friday.

Josey qualified 11th out of 12 riders on Wednesday, earning a spot in the final alongside two other Americans.

In his previous appearances at the Winter Olympics, Josey finished just off the podium in sixth and seventh in 2018 and 2022, respectively.

The final airs live starting at 11:30 am MT on KTVB Channel 7 and Peacock.


HILARY KNIGHT

Hilary Knight, the captain of the Team USA women’s hockey team, will be in action Friday as the Americans take on host country Italy in the quarterfinals.

Team USA easily won their group with four victories, including a 5-0 win over Canada on Tuesday. In total, the team scored 20 goals in group play and had only one goal against.

Knight could also break two records Friday: most goals scored by any member of Team USA at an Olympic Games, and total Olympic points. She tied both records earlier this week.

The showdown starts at 1:10 pm MT Friday, Feb. 13. You can watch the contest live on USA Network and Peacock.
