Georgia is issuing $250-$500 tax refunds in the next few weeks – WABE
Georgia is beginning to difficulty a one-time tax refund to residents: $250 for single filers, $375 for heads of households and $500 for joint filers who filed their 2024 and 2025 taxes.
Gov. Brian Kemp signed the tax rebatetotaling greater than $1 billion, in March through House Bill 1000. The state has issued comparable refunds thrice earlier than in current years. Funds for these rebates come from the state’s price range surplus.
“Georgians know best how to spend their money, not the government,” Kemp stated in a Monday launch.
“That’s why we’re committed to being good stewards of those dollars and putting more of them where they belong — in Georgians’ pockets — at a time when other states are having to raise taxes.”
Residents who filed their tax returns electronically will obtain the refund at the checking account they used. Those who filed their tax returns by mail will obtain a test in the mail.
“Our team is ready to deliver these refunds efficiently and securely to Georgia taxpayers,” stated Georgia Department of Revenue Commissioner David Burge in the Monday launch.
“We’ve built a process that prioritizes accuracy and speed so eligible filers can receive their money as quickly as possible.”
To test whether or not you qualify for the tax return, you’ll be able to go to the surplus tax refund checker on the Department of Revenue web site.
