Falcons to release QB Kirk Cousins on March 11 when new league year begins
Kirk Cousins‘time in Atlanta will certainly be coming to an finish in a few weeks.
Falcons normal supervisor Ian Cunningham instructed reporters throughout his information convention on the NFL Scouting Combine that the crew plans to release the veteran quarterback on March 11.
“I did talk to Kirk and his representation, Mike McCartney, letting them know that we will release him on the first day of the league year,” Cunningham stated. “We just felt that that was out of respect for Kirk and Mike, his agent, and what’s he’s done in his career, just that we owe that to him to allow him some clarity going into free agency.”
Cousins’ impending release from the Falcons does not come as a shock. The two sides not too long ago reworked the four-year, $180 million deal he signed in 2024, and that modification was the primary domino to fail as Atlanta seems for some salary-cap flexibility this offseason.
