Crews respond to massive five-alarm fire at NW Miami-Dade warehouse – NBC 6 South Florida


Crews had been battling a massive five-alarm fire at a warehouse in northwest Miami-Dade on Thursday.

The fire was reported round 10:45 am at a warehouse within the 20600 block of Northwest forty seventh Avenue.

Aerial footage from Chopper 6 confirmed the warehouse engulfed in flames as a big plumes of black smoke rose into the air from the scene.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officers stated firefighters arrived to discover flames and heavy black smoke coming from the warehouse.

Footage confirmed firefighters spraying water on the constructing and attacking the flames from a number of angles.

The name started as a two-alarm fire however by the afternoon, it had been upgraded to a five-alarm fire, with over 48 fire rescue items at the scene, officers stated.

Crews had been conducting a defensive assault to extinguish the fire due to structural integrity issues.

No accidents had been reported, officers stated.

A public security alert was issued at one level due to the heavy smoke from the fire.

“Heavy smoke due to a fire is impacting the area. It is recommended for those with respiratory problems and medical conditions to shelter in place if possible,” the alert learn. “Stay indoors. Close windows and doors and recirculate ventilation systems. Monitor local media and official Miami-Dade County alerts for updates. No evacuations necessary.”

Winds had been blowing towards the northwest, pushing the smoke over a close-by landfill and out over the Everglades.

Officials requested individuals to keep away from the world whereas they labored to put it out.

“As a result of the fire, the area is experiencing smoky conditions, which can affect those with respiratory issues. Please stay indoors, keep windows and doors closed, and run the A/C by recirculating the air inside your home,” fire rescue posted on X.

The driver of an 18-wheeler advised NBC6 he was at the warehouse, which shops stock for shipments, when the fire alarm went off.

He stated everybody instantly evacuated, nobody was damage, and everybody inside was accounted for.

Miramar Fire Rescue officers stated they had been aiding Miami-Dade crews however stated nothing in Miramar was being threatened by the fire.

Miami Gardens Police Chief Delma Noel-Pratt stated her division was aiding in closing off Northwest forty seventh Avenue so crews may respond to the fire.
