Cathay to cut flights from mid-May to end-June as fuel prices emerge

Cathay Pacific Airways mentioned on Saturday it is going to cut some flights from mid-May till the tip of June, citing hovering jet fuel prices triggered by the continued battle within the Middle East.
The airline will cancel about 2% of its scheduled passenger flights from May 16 to June 30, 2026, whereas its finances arm HK Express will cut about 6% from May 11, it mentioned.
The provider mentioned the suspension of its passenger providers to Dubai and Riyadh will stay in place till June 30.
Last month, Cathay’s CEO Ronald Lam mentioned the Hong Kong-based airline would press forward with plans to broaden passenger capability by 10% this 12 months, pointing to sturdy demand for long-haul flights to North America, Europe and Australia after the Iran struggle cut site visitors by the Middle East.
Beyond June, Cathay Pacific and HK Express plan to function all their scheduled passenger flights, Cathay mentioned within the assertion.
