Report: Chicago Bears to release Tremaine Edmunds

After granting linebacker Tremaine Edmunds permission to search a commerce final week, it is now being reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the Chicago Bears are releasing him. Finding a suitor for Edmunds proved too troublesome as he was within the remaining 12 months of his contract with a comparatively small useless cap hit ($2.4M).

Moving on from Edmunds will give the Bears $15 million in cap aid and is probably going a precursor to a brand new “pricy” free agent signing. The Bears have a giant want to fill at move rusher and a gaping gap at heart, and releasing Edmunds, together with the DJ Moore commerce and the sudden retirement of Drew Dalman, all of the sudden provides the Bears some monetary flexibility.

In his three years in Chicago, Edmunds averaged 112 tackles a season, whereas choosing off 9 passes, with 2 compelled fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 2 sacks, and 11 tackles for losses.

With Edmunds formally gone, that leaves the Bears with no wholesome beginning linebackers below contract. TJ Edwards (10 begins) and Noah Sewell (9 begins) ended the season on injured reserve, and D’Marco Jackson, who seemed strong in his 16 video games and 4 begins, is a free agent.

What do you assume the Bears will do with a few of this newfound wage cap area?
