Laid-off KTLA weathercaster Kacey Montoya will return for a few more weeks – Daily News
Every week after KTLA laid off five longtime journalistsone among them, weathercaster Kacey Montoya, will return to the air on Saturday, March 7, to work the weekend climate desk till someday in April.
When Montoya, fellow meteorologist Mark Kriski, anchors Lu Parker and Glen Walker, and reporter Ellina Abovian have been let go by station owner Nexstar on Wednesday, Feb. 25, they got 60 days’ discover till their positions would formally finish.
Montoya determined this week that she’d spend that point doing the climate report, as she has since becoming a member of the KTLA newsroom in 2013.
“I want to thank everyone who’s reached out for your love and support that you’ve shown me over the past week,” Montoya stated in a brief video posted on her Instagram web page on Thursday, March 5. “I had no concept that I had made such an affect on so lots of your lives.
“To say that I’m overwhelmed could be an understatement, so truthfully, from the underside of my coronary heart, thanks for that.
“As you know, my time at KTLA is coming to an end after 13 years,” she continued. “But I truly love this job and love being able to come into your home and bring you the forecast and bring you my animal welfare stories.”
Montoya stated she will work her typical weekend shifts by March and into early April when her time formally ends.
“I hope you’ll join me starting this weekend,” Montoya stated. “I’ll be operating my non-profit, Fix’n Fidos [which raises money to spay and neuter pets in Southern California] full-time in the course of the week after which exploring another alternatives.
“But in the meantime, join me this weekend so we can celebrate these last few weeks. I’ll see you then.”
