I-25 closed north of Denver after grass fire sparks
Interstate 25 was closed Wednesday afternoon north of Denver and Thornton cops have been going door-to-door to evacuate residents after a grass fire sparked close to the freeway, in keeping with legislation enforcement.
As of 12:35 pm, I-25 was closed in each instructions between US 36 and 104th Avenue in Thornton for “safety concerns,” according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. Cameras within the space showed thick, black smoke drifting throughout the freeway.
Pinnacle High School and close by companies have been being evacuated at the moment and several other roads across the fire — which sparked close to the highschool at West 84th Avenue and Huron Street — have been closed, according to the Thornton Police Department.
The actual evacuation space is unknown, however police said it covers neighborhoods northeast of the fire.
“While we do have emergency personnel conducting manual evacuations, anyone who does not feel safe should evacuate,” police stated. “Those who don’t have anywhere to go can go to Water World as a safe gathering location.”
This is a growing story and will likely be up to date.
