Writer returning to William & Mary to discuss his life and career – The Virginian-Pilot


Retired promoting and publishing govt Tom Baker will return to his alma mater on March 25 to talk about his new avocation — artistic writing.

His latest publication, “A Book of Common Flowers,” would be the matter of his presentation scheduled for 4-6 pm within the MacKenzie Theater within the Earl Gregg Swem Library on the William & Mary campus. It is open and free to the general public.

Published by iUniverse, an unbiased division of Penguin Publishing, the guide consists of 40 totally different flower vignettes, containing botanical historical past, images, watercolor work and prose poetry.

“Prose poetry is not restrictive; it is more a stream of consciousness. I have humanized the flowers and I must warn that it is not quite tame. It is racy, erotic and adult,” stated Baker, who’s a member of William & Mary’s Class of 1966.
