Why Burt Reynolds ‘wanted to kill’ Sandy Duncan over ‘Barney’ appearance


Sandy Duncan has had an illustrious Hollywood profession, however she could also be remembered by a sure era for her appearance on “Barney.”

Duncan took the function of “Mom” in an early iteration of the collection, a stint lasting three episodes that went straight to video.

“When I got there and saw what it was, I went, ‘Oh my God, what have I done?'” Duncan joked on the “Nostalgia Tonight With Joe Sibilia” podcast. “We filmed it, and it was very much a [children’s] show. It ended because I had to go back to work.”

Duncan opted not to reprise her function after the success of the video collection, which went on to turn out to be “Barney and Friends” on PBS, one thing she admits she regretted.

But her transient function went platinum in Burt Reynolds home. His son, Quinton, whom he adopted with spouse Loni Anderson in 1988, was a superfan of the VHS tape.

“We were at a big gathering, one of those events, and someone behind my back creeped up and whispered in my ear, ‘I wanted to kill you,'” Duncan revealed. It was Reynolds, and she or he defined, “Because he had a toddler, and he said, ‘All we have on television is you and Barney.'”

Duncan has donated her share of children’s programming, including starring roles in “Peter Pan” on Broadway, and a live-action adaptation of “Pinocchio” for CBS. She additionally did voice work on “Scooby-Doo” and “The Fox and the Hound.”
