Vehicle crashes into barricade near White House, Secret Service investigating
The US Secret Service is investigating after a car crashed into a barricade near the White House early Wednesday, in response to the federal company and police in Washington, DC
The driver of the automobile was detained by Secret Service brokers and is being questioned, mentioned Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesperson for the company. He informed CBS News in a press release that officers with the Secret Service’s uniform division had been “looking into a suspicious vehicle.”
“Various entrances and the streets are temporarily closed as teams conduct their work,” Guglielmi mentioned. “We will provide additional information once we get updated from officers later this morning.”
No accidents have been reported in reference to the collision, mentioned a spokesperson for the DC Metropolitan Police Department, which is aiding the Secret Service in its investigation. The police spokesperson mentioned the crash occurred alongside a bit of the intersection at Connecticut and H Streets.
Streets north of the White House had been shut down, with police tape, police automobiles, Secret Service officers, Metropolitan cops and National Guard Members blocking them off.
