Historical Native American remains found at UC Berkeley – NBC Bay Area

Historical Native American remains have been found at UC Berkeley on Wednesday, in response to the college.

Officials mentioned skeletal remains have been found at a development website on UC Berkeley property. The Alameda County Coroner’s Office decided these remains have been probably historic Native American remains and never linked to any crime, authorities added.

The establishment mentioned its Governmental and Community Relations workplace is coordinating with the California Native American Heritage Commission on this matter.

Additionally, mentioned authorities the college will “follow the procedures of the Most Likely Descendant as designated by the Native American Heritage Commission to ensure respectful and appropriate next steps.”
