‘Euphoria’ actor breaks down Zendaya’s heart-pounding apple scene in Season 3 premiere

How about them apples?
The Season 3 premiere of HBO’s “Euphoria” ended with a tense scene, in which a brand new crime boss character, Alamo Brown (performed by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) pointed a gun at Rue (performed by Zendaya) and shot an apple off her head.
They filmed the scene in Palmdale, California, “on a hill at midnight in the freezing cold, with the wind about 35 miles an hour,” Akinnuoye-Agbaje solely informed Page Six of the heart-pounding scene.
The British actor added, “And I’m standing there in some Speedos and cowboy boots. So, as exotic as it might have looked, it was freezing cold!”
He famous that “there was definitely an apple” in the scene, however he did not actually shoot something at Zendaya; that was “camera trickery.”
Working with the Emmy-winning actress was “a lovely time,” the “Lost” actor informed Page Six.
He praised Zendaya as “generous, very intelligent, and not precious with any of the material.”
“She can turn it on and off,” he stated. “When now we have to chuck mud in her face, she’s saying, ‘Chuck the mud in my face!’ That’s what you need along with your scene associate – somebody who is ready to be dedicated to the scene.”
Premiering in 2019 and starring Zendaya, Jacob Elordi and Sydney Sweeney, the Sam Levinson-led collection initially adopted drug addict Rue by her highschool years. Returning after a protracted hiatus, Season 3 finds her 5 years later, as she’s in debt to drug seller Laurie (performed by Martha Kelly) and dealing as her drug mule. in the Season 3 premiereLaurie despatched Rue on an errand to ship medication to the strip membership tycoon, Alamo Brown.

He informed Page Six that he views the scene as “a test of her character” as a result of “had she flinched and run, I think he might have shot her.”
The “Oz” actor identified that that is “obviously” not the primary time that Alamo has accomplished this, since his crew acted nonchalant about it.
“He is a marksman, as we’ll see throughout the series. This guy knows how to fire a bullet and hit its target. So, he’s confident in his abilities and to shoot the apple off of his head.”
The “Game of Thrones” actor stated that scene is the “beginning of their relationship” and it is Alamo “testing” Rue to see if she is “eligible” to enter his world.
“This is the world that she is now stepping into. I think it’s a great prelude to the rest of the season.”
Akinnuoye-Agbaje informed Page Six that he thinks that Alamo “sees something of himself” in Rue.
“He recognizes her ambition, her courage,” as she walks into “his domain, his kingdom.”
As Season 3 goes on, he teased, “We see the depths of the darkness the Alamo’s world really entails. Whether she can navigate that world or not, we’ll see.”
“Euphoria” airs Sundays at 9 pm ET on HBO.
