Britain sentences truck driver for smuggling cocaine in Skims clothing shipment

LONDON (AP) — A British court docket sentenced a truck driver to jail for smuggling 7 million kilos ($9.4 million) price of cocaine in a shipment of underwear and clothing from Skims, Kim Kardashian’s shapewear model, authorities mentioned Monday.

The National Crime Agency mentioned Jakub Jan Konkel, 40, was driving a truck carrying 28 pallets of Skims clothing from the Netherlands when he was stopped by border officers at a port in Essex in September.

The company mentioned Konkel had stopped on the way in which to gather 90 kilograms (198 kilos) of cocaine, and that the truck had been specifically tailored in order that he might disguise the medication, wrapped in 1-kilogram (2.2-pound) packages, in a compartment of the truck’s again doorways.

The company mentioned the shipment of clothing was reputable and neither the exporter nor importer had been related to the smuggled load.

Konkel mentioned he had agreed to move the medication for a fee of 4,500 euros ($5,243), in response to the company.

He was sentenced to 13½ years in jail for drug smuggling at Chelmsford Crown Court.
