Update on Safety Harrison Smith’s Contract Status
EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Wednesday introduced a post-June 1 launch of security Harrison Smith.
The procedural transfer, which spreads a cap hit over two seasons, doesn’t point out the place Smith is at in his resolution of whether or not to return for a 15th season in Minnesota.
From the NFL Operations Manual, “Teams are allowed to release two players prior to June 1 (but on or after the first day of the League Year) while still using this designation and getting the same cap treatment. However, the cap savings created by a June 1 designation do not take effect until after June 1.”
The 37-year-old handed the 200-game threshold in 2025 and has began 203 of 207 regular-season video games since becoming a member of the Vikings as a first-round decide in 2012.
Smith has 39 profession interceptions, essentially the most amongst 2025 lively NFL gamers, and 21.5 sacks.
