Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in South Jersey issued to FPCON Charlie on Tuesday afternoon because of suspicious packages reported on the bottom.
“Security Forces and our first responders immediately responded, secured the area, and determined the packages posed no threat,” the navy wrote on social media simply after 4:30 pm on Tuesday.
Initially, the bottom had issued an FPCON Charlie, which is utilized when “an incident occurs or intelligence is received indicating some form of terrorist action targeting personnel or facilities is likely,” in keeping with the Defense Logistics Agency.
FPCON Charlie is the second-highest power safety stage for navy installations, in keeping with the DLA.
“We are grateful for the quick and professional actions of our first responders whose vigilance helps keep our community safe every day,” the navy wrote on the bottom’s Facebook web page.
