Hofstra Evens Series With Win At Monmouth


West Long Branch, NJ – CJ Griggs’ RBI single on the high of the seventh inning snapped a 4-4 tie as Hofstra picked up a 5-4 victory over Monmouth Saturday at MU Baseball Field. The win evened the CAA collection between the groups at one sport apiece. Relief Tanner Sanderoff earned the win after tossing 2 ⅔ innings of scoreless aid. Deuce Musial he threw two scoreless to get his first save.

Hofstra upped its file to 3-9 total and 2-3 within the CAA with the win. Monmouth noticed their six-game profitable streak halted and fell to 7-8 total and 4-1 in league play.

Hofstra jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings, scoring three within the first and one within the second. Griggs hit a sacrifice fly, Tyler Cox had an RBI single, and Gabriel Melara reached on an error that drove in a run within the first. Michael Brown had a sacrifice fly within the second.

The Hawks scored twice within the third and twice within the fifth to tie the sport. Colin Richter’s two-run single within the fifth was the equalizer.

The groups conclude the collection Sunday at 1 pm

Chris Bedford began and allowed 4 runs (two earned) on 4 hits over 4 ⅓ innings.

-Sanderoff improved to 1-2 on the season.

-Austin Beard (0-2) took the loss, permitting one run on one hit over three innings.
