The decide in the Jason Meade murder retrial on Thursday urged jurors to attempt to attain a verdict after they mentioned they have been having a troublesome time doing so.

Judge David Young learn what’s known as a Howard Charge, an attraction to deadlocked jurors to return and re-consider testimony and proof to attempt to attain a call.

Meade’s first murder trial in 2024 led to a mistrial as a result of jurors could not attain a verdict.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A Franklin County jury begins its first full day of deliberations Thursday because it weighs the destiny of former sheriff’s deputy Jason Meade, accused of murder in the 2020 taking pictures loss of life of Casey Goodson Jr.

The case is being tried for a second time after a jury in 2024 couldn’t attain a verdict, resulting in a retrial that culminated in closing arguments yesterday.

As of 2:53 pm Thursday, jurors had been again in deliberations following the Howard Charge, making an attempt to achieve a call. Once they do, we’ll stream the proceedings in the Youtube participant under:

In 2020, Meade was a Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy working with a federal process power serving warrants. As that work wrapped up, Meade noticed Goodson drive by and Meade mentioned Goodson was waving a gun. Meade adopted Goodson to Goodson’s grandmother’s home, ordered him to drop the weapon after which shot Goodson to loss of life.

The trial has included intensive dialogue about whether or not Goodson heard Meade’s orders and the way Meade’s photographs struck Goodson in the again.

In closing arguments, particular prosecutor Gary Merkle mentioned, “Mr. Meade knowingly caused serious harm to Casey Goodson that resulted in his death.”

Defense legal professional Mark Collins advised jurors, “(Meade) had no pause button, he had no crystal ball, he had no duty to wait for the first shot.”

Meade didn’t testify in his personal protection on this trial. He did take the stand in his 2024 trial.
