Jon Jones’ hope of returning to take on Alex Pereira at the UFC White House event may finally be dwindling.

Ever since it was announced by Donald Trump that the premier promotion would be holding an event at the White House, ‘Bones’ instantly declared his plan to return on the historic event.

The likelihood of that then seemingly increased when current UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira called him out following his rematch win over Magomed Ankalaev.

Despite that, the UFC boss Dana White made it clear that he wasn’t interested in having Jon Jones return to the sport following his retirement.

Is Dana White right to block a potential Jon Jones vs Alex Pereira fight?

Jon Jones provides bleak update on Pereira super fight

Although White shut down the potential clash, Pereira recently once again teased the potential fight, writing Jones’ name on a tire of the tire shop he used to work in.

However, despite having issued a warning to Pereira and apparently being adamant regarding a return, Jones seems less confident a return will take place, and he doesn’t seem to angry about it.

“I don’t know what’s gonna happen, I’m working out and eating healthy, I’m living the lifestyle, I’m walking the walk the way I’ve done it my whole life and I don’t really know what’s gonna happen,” Jones told The Schmo.

“Regardless, I take it one day at a time, some things are just out of my control but I feel good, I feel blessed, whether I fight again or not I feel wonderful and I feel so grateful for this life God granted me with.”

With Jones having found peace with a potential return not being on the cards, he will likely continue his involvement in combat sports through Dirty Boxing and coaching his teammate, Gable Steveson.

In fact, at this point, it seems more likely that the Olympic gold medalist will compete on the UFC White House event over Jones, with it potentially being the perfect event for the 25-year-old to make his debut in the promotion.

Although Steveson hasn’t signed with the premier promotion yet, White has recently admitted that he is keeping a close eye on the athletic freak.

Is Gable Steveson destined for greatness in MMA, like Jon Jones is predicting? 🤼

Is there still a chance Jones competes in the UFC again?

At this point, everything is pointing towards Jones not competing on the historic event, and maybe never competing in the UFC again due to his strained relationship with the boss.

Despite that, ‘Bones’ continues to be one of the biggest stars in combat sports, which makes a return seem possible at any given moment.
