Saturday Night Live forged member Colin Jost marked a milestone this weekend, by showing in his three hundredth phase/sketch.
That’s in response to Jon Schneider and Mike Murray of LateNighter’s podcast companion, The Saturday Night Networkwhich tracks sketch appearances throughout the long-running comedy collection’ historical past.
Jost hit the 300 mark with this week’s Cold Open, through which his SecDef Pete Hegseth carried out a keg stand earlier than briefing reporters on the US navy’s ongoing bombing of Iran.

Jost is the 61st forged member general to go the 300-sketch threshold, an honor he shares with 5 different present SNL forged members: James Austin Johnson (who hit the mark December 21)Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, and, after all, Kenan Thompson (whose 23 seasons on the present put him on the high of the checklist with greater than 1,800 sketch appearances).
Birthday woman Sarah Sherman is poised to look in her personal three hundredth later tonight; LateNighter will maintain you up to date.
Coming off a stint writing for Nickelodeon’s short-lived animated collection Kappa MikeyJost joined NBC’s SNL in 2005, as a author. He was promoted years later to writing supervisor, after which co-head author. During that span, he’d pop up time to time in sketches. It wasn’t till March 2014 that he was tapped to succeed Seth Meyers as “Weekend Update” co-anchor, sharing the information desk with Cecily Strong. (Michael Che changed Strong within the September 2014 Season 40 premiere.)
Of Jost’s 300 SNL phase appearances, 245 got here by way of “Update” (together with three that pre-dated his run as co-anchor). His ongoing, “Update”-driven tally has been enhanced this season by his recurring portrayal of Hegseth, which he debuted in October’s opener.
For comparability’s sake, “Update” co-anchor Che entered the March 7 episode with 262 phase appearances, since he tends to look in fewer sketches and pre-tapes. (His most up-to-date pre-tape, the now-infamous “Tourette’s,” was minimize at gown and does not rely towards Che’s SNL whole profession.)
