24 Years Later, Walton Goggins’ FX Detective Thriller Keeps Getting Better

It’s been something of an unlikely path to stardom for Walton Gogginsbut after roles in massive shows like fallout and The Righteous Gemstones In the last few years, he’s blossomed into one of TV’s most popular actors. He further cemented this status by joining Season 3 of HBO’s The White Lotus and standing out among a star-studded ensemble, even earning an Emmy nomination for his performance as Rick in the series. In the past 15 years, his daring performances have earned him three nominations from the Television Academy, but the award has evaded him. A win could yet be on the horizon, though.

It was March 2002 when Walton Goggins suited up as Detective Shane Vendrell for the first time in Shieldthe hit police procedure following a gang of corrupt LA cops who use illegal methods to maintain law and order. Goggins co-stars alongside Michael Chiklis in the series, who is also famous for his role as Ben Grimm/The Thing in the early Fantastic Four movies. In America, all seven seasons of Shield are streaming on Hulu, and they’re also available to watch for free on Tubi. They were, at one point, also streaming on HBO Max, but they have since left the platform. Although it’s been years since Shield released an episode, the show has returned to the VOD top 10 on ViaPlay and Google in several countries around the world. It was written and created for TV by Shawn Ryanwho also developed The Night Agent for Netflix.
