The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, He traveled to Andalusia this Friday, where he will visit and reconnoiter by helicopter the areas most affected by Storm Leonardo. At 10 in the morning he left the Moncloa Palace with the Air Force’s Super Puma 8 helicopter.

As Government sources have informed RTVE, throughout the day the president will be at the Advanced Command Post of San Roque, in Cádizwhere he will gather first-hand information from the operational commanders and authorities who are in charge of the device deployed to serve the population, assess damage and supervise the infrastructure. At the end, around 12, he will make a statement to the media at the town hall of this town.

The vice president Maria Jesus Monterofrom the Huelva delegation, has also held a press conference to explain the response that the Government is giving to this storm, giving some data and recommendations.

“Up to this time there have been more than 8,000 evictions preventive measures in different Andalusian municipalities (…) 3,400 belong to the city of Jerez,” he said. And: “There are a total of 24 reservoirs that are releasing water, many of them because they have reached their maximum capacity.”

Furthermore, he pointed out that “there are areas that are being specially monitored, for example, in Córdoba the proximity to the airport Due to the flooding of the Guadalquivir, today we understand that it will reach its maximum point. With special monitoring of the discharge of Bornos and Arcos, this would affect Jerez and Puerto de Santa María.

Regarding Grazalema, the municipality that was evicted yesterday, he pointed out that “the situation of the land is of concern, in fact there is a team of geologists monitoring the subsoil situation to see the aquifer situation.” Also, in Malaga, “Serranía de Ronda, Montejaque and El Secadero dams are concerned about the effects of the Guadiaro River.”
