Beloved singer dies at 61 after cancer battle: ‘Music and ministry touched millions!’

Beloved Christian singer, songwriter and worship chief Brian Doerksen has died.

He was 60.

Doerksen had been battling stage 4 cancer.

The information of his demise was shared in a press release on his Facebook web page.

“On July 21st at 6:45 AM, our beloved Brian passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home surrounded by those who loved him most,” the post read. “Thank you to the entire community around the world that prayed, gave, and sent incredible messages of love.

“Till the very end, Brian continued to love those around him, encouraging them in who they are, and shared incredible gratitude to those in the medical field who tried their best to help him,” the assertion continued. “He was a beacon of light even in his final moments to his close family and friends, and loved well right to the end.

“May we all be like him, to love freely, be kind, and grateful even in the midst of the hardest of times.”

According to the Christian Post, Doerksen was hospitalized in February for “undiagnosed medical issues” that triggered him extreme ache. A GoFundMe posted for him mentioned that scans revealed “a mass in the pelvis and spots on the liver, lungs and near the heart.”

The Christian Post mentioned that Doerksen was recognized for such songs as “Refiner’s Fire,” “Faithful One,” and “Come Now Is The Time to Worship.”

His followers on Facebook responded with love and heartbreak to the information of his demise.

“Grieving and praying for this family,” Dustin Crozier wrote. “Brian’s music and ministry touched millions! Imagining what he is seeing now… will be playing ‘faithful one’ tonight for sure at camp.”
