Live updates: Trump cancels signing of housing bill ahead of GOP Senate visit

The Trump administration has introduced the restricted reopening, greater than three months after it was shuttered on the top of the battle.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio attended a ceremonial flag-raising on the embassy compound in Kuwait City on Wednesday through the second leg of a three-nation tour of Gulf allies.

“Effective at midnight on June 24, 2026, the US Embassy in Kuwait resumed operations following a suspension caused by Iranian attacks,” the State Department stated. “The Embassy will immediately resume emergency services for American citizens, with other services phased in gradually.”

The embassy suspended operations on March 5, amid intensifying Iranian drone and retaliation for US and Israeli airstrikes.

The embassy in Kuwait was the one one to thoroughly shut down, though all others within the area diminished staffing by both permitting or ordering non-emergency personnel to depart their posts. The Kuwait embassy will initially reopen with restricted providers.
